How to Enable Adaptive Lighting on Apple HomeKit Lights – Guide

How to use adaptive lighting in HomeKit
1. Activate Adaptive Lighting

3. Control your lights
With Adaptive Lighting turned on, you cannot change the color or temperature of the lights. If you do this, your bulbs will remain in the new setting permanently until you turn Adaptive Lighting back on.
You can adjust the brightness, however. This affects the color temperature: cooler at maximum brightness, warmer at minimum brightness.

5. Use a manual switch
You can also set your lights to turn on at the touch of a button, as long as you have a HomeKit-compatible controller. All Hue switches appear in HomeKit, although if you use them here they may conflict with the settings you’ve configured in the Hue app. So if you want to use a Hue controller, make sure the Hue app is set to do nothing when a button is pressed.
Alternatively, you can use a different system. I use flick 2 buttons to do the same job as they can be added to HomeKit.
Once you have a button, press and hold on HomeKit and you will see that you can configure your actions. For Flic 2, there are actions for Single Press, Double Press and Long Press. Tap Add next to the action you want to control, select the lights you want to control, then tap Next. Then press and hold your lights and select your desired brightness level and the Adaptive Lighting icon, tap Done and you won’t have a control that will activate Adaptive Lighting when you want.
