How To Find Lost or Stolen Windows 10/11 PC – Guide
In Windows 11, you can enable Find My Device feature to find your laptop, tablet or desktop computer anywhere if lost or stolen. THE feature leverages your Microsoft account’s ability to sync information to the cloud. If you turn on Find My Device, Windows 11 will periodically send the physical (approximate) location of the device to Microsoft. If your computer is lost or stolen, you can sign in to your Microsoft account online to find the last known location on record to help locate your device.
What you need before moving on
To recover your lost or stolen Windows 10 devices, you need to turn on Find My Device feature if it’s ok and you use it regularly. You can’t enable this feature remotely after losing your device. As in many other cases, it pays to act.
You also need to sign in to Windows 10 with a Microsoft account. If you can’t find your device, you can use your Microsoft account to try to find it. Without a Microsoft account, there’s no way to reconnect to your device, whether it’s a Microsoft Surface Pro or a laptop from HP, Dell or any other manufacturer.
To obtain the location, Windows 10 uses any information it can derive from the device, including the GPS chip (if any), a mobile Internet connection (if available), a wired network connection, or Wi-Fi. For the last two options to work, your ISP must allow an address to be determined based on the physical connection.
