Clean the Touchpad and restart your Laptop

  • To clean the touchscreen, first take two cotton swabs. Then get some water or cleaning fluid such as isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Use two cotton swabs with the liquid to clean and dry the touchpad. After completely cleaning the touchpad, you need to restart the laptop. Use the Start menu or Alt + F4 to restart your Windows 11 PC.

    • Reset your touchpad

  • Hold the Windows key and the I key to get the Settings screen on your Windows 11.
  • On the left panel, tap on the Bluetooth & Devices option to proceed with the process.
  • On the right side screen, look for Touchpad. Once you get it, tap on it.
  • Go to More touchpad settings option.

    • Activate your touchpad

  • Launch the Settings screen on your Windows 11 by holding the Windows key and the I key.
  • After that, on the left panel, tap on Bluetooth & Devices option.
  • Now tap the Touchpad on the right side screen.
  • Here, make sure to enable the Touchpad toggle.
  • You have now enabled the touchpad using the settings. You can also enable it using keyboard shortcuts. All laptops tag provides keyboard shortcuts for the immediate task. To enable and disable the touchpad there is a Fn key on all laptops. It can be from F1 to F12. There is a different key for different brands of laptop. After all, check whether the touchpad is working or not. If yes then good, if not then you need to apply the fix below.

    • Update touchpad driver

  • Launch the Run dialog box by holding the Windows key and the R key.
  • In it type devmgmt.msc and click OK button.
  • You will now have the Device Manager screen. In it look for Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Double tap the device to expand the list of drivers.
  • After that, right-click on the touchpad driver.
  • In the menu that opens, tap on the Update driver option.
  • For the later process, select Search automatically for drivers. Here you must make sure that you have a strong internet connection as the system will download the necessary update file for the driver.
