How to Automatically forward emails in Outlook Desktop
- Open Outlook. At the Home tab, locate the Move section. There, select Rules and choose Manage rules and alerts from the drop-down menu.
- Click New Rule.
- Under Start with a blank rule, select Apply rule to messages I receive. Click Next.
- Select the criteria for the types of messages you want to forward. If you want to forward all incoming email, leave these selections blank. Click Next and confirm the prompt if you see a dialog notifying you that this applies to all messages.
- In Step 1 of the next window, select Forward to people or public group. (If you prefer, Forward to Public People or Group as an Attachment also works.) Then, in Step 2, click the link text to Public People or Group.
- Enter the email address of the contact you want to forward the email to in the To box at the bottom. You can select one of your contacts from the box above instead of entering them manually and you can enter as many addresses as you like.
- You can then choose certain criteria for emails that you want to exclude from this rule. You don’t need to choose anything, but if you want, you can filter emails from certain senders or that contain words, for example.
- Enter a name for your rule so it’s easy to find in the future. Then make sure Enable this rule is checked and click Finish.
How to Automatically forward emails in Gmail
- Access Gmail options by clicking the gear in the upper right corner and choosing Settings.
- Open the Forwarding tab and POP / IMAP.
- At the top of the page, under the subheading Forwarding, click Add a forwarding address.
- In the window that appears up, enter the email address you want to forward emails to. Please note that you can only enter one email address at a time. Click Next when finished.
- The chosen email address will receive an email. The owner must click on the link inside to grant permission to forward them emails.
