How to Install the Google Play Store on Windows 11 – Guide

However, the official Amazon Appstore is only available to Windows Insiders, but thanks to some changes in the original Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) package, you can easily use the Google Play services on Windows 11. Follow the instructions in this guide to install the Google Play Store on your Windows 11 device. The Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) is a Windows 11 component that runs Android apps on a Windows device in a Hyper-V virtual environment.

The program is designed as a virtualized Android operating system based on the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP). Once installed, Windows Subsystem for Android can be accessed from Apps & Features Windows 11 section and uninstalled from there. Microsoft will likely spend some time testing the Windows Subsystem for Android beta to improve the usability of Android apps on Windows 11. In the meantime, you can skip the entire Insider process to get full use of Google Play services on your Windows device.

How to Install Google Play Store on Windows 11

Uninstall Android Subsystem for Android

  • Press Win + I to open the Settings panel.
  • Open the Applications tab in the left pane.
  • Then click on Applications and Features.
  • Locate and click Windows Subsystem for Android in the list of applications.
  • Click on the three dots and select Uninstall. Click Uninstall again to confirm the action.

  • Press Win + I to open the Settings app.
  • Open the Privacy & Security tab in the left pane.
  • In the right pane, click For Developers.
  • Toggle the switch to developer mode and set it to on. Click Yes to confirm the action.

    • Activate the virtual machine to run Android apps

  • Press Win + S to open the search bar.
  • Type Windows Features and click on Turn Windows features on or off from the search results.
  • in the windows Features window, select Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform.
  • Click OK to save the changes and Windows will install the features. Restart your PC to apply the changes.

    • Download Windows Subsystem Integrated Package for Android

  • Visit the MagiskOnWSA repository and log in with your GitHub account. Create a new account if you don’t already have one.
  • Then click Fork in the upper right corner of your GitHub page. This may take a few seconds, so wait until you see the Forked menu.
  • Click the Actions tab.
  • If you see workflows not running at this forked repository prompt, click I understand my workflows, go ahead and enable them.
  • On the Actions tab, click Build WSA or Magisk under Entire Workflow.
  • Click Run Workflow in the right pane.
  • In the pop-up a download link for the magisk APK will appear.
  • Then type pico in GApps Variants. You can also choose other variants if you know what you are doing.
  • Click on Run workflow button. You should see a status message The workflow execution was successfully requested.
  • This process can take a while to complete, usually around a few minutes. Once done, you will see a green checkmark indicating the task is complete.
  • Click the filled Build WSA or Magisk label.
  • Scroll down to the Artifacts section. Here you should see the ARM and X64 version.
  • Depending on your CPU version, click the WSA link with appropriate Magisk GApps (ARM or X64). Depending on your internet speed, it may take a while to download the package.

  • Right-click the downloaded zip folder (WSA-with-magisk-GApps-pico_1.8.32828.0_x64_Release-Nightly) and select Extract. Choose a location and extract the content.
  • Open the WSA folder with Magic GApps.
  • Inside the folder, locate the Install.ps1 file.
  • Right-click the file and select Run with PowerShell.
  • Click Open to confirm the action. The PowerShell script will run and show the operation completed successfully message.
  • You may see some new installation notifications. The script will install Windows Subsystem for Android and Google Play Store and close the PowerShell window.
  • Click Allow access to Windows Security Alert to allow the Windows Subsystem for Android package to connect to your network.
  • Once done, press Win + S to open the Windows search bar.
  • Type Windows Subsystem for Android and open it in the search results.
  • Make sure developer mode is set to on.
  • Then click Manage Developer Settings under Developer Mode to restart the subsystem.
  • Click Allow/Yes if prompted by Windows Firewall.
  • Click Start and you will see the Play Store app icon.
  • Open the Play Store and login with your Google account. When you sign in, Google Play services can perform routine contact syncing and other tasks.
