How to Merge PDF, MP3, Video and Text Documents in Mac – Guide

Life doesn’t always provide a complete PDF. If you have many pages or parts of a PDF document, it’s a good idea to combine them into a single file on your Mac before sending them. Here it is how to do this with built-in tools and the Internet.

One of the hidden treasures of macOS is visualization. You can not only use it to edit photographs and sign documents, but also to perform basic PDF operations without having to pay for a separate PDF editor.

You can quickly merge multiple PDF documents using the Preview app. You can also include some pages from another PDF document. That’s how it goes.

How to Merge PDFs Using Preview

  • Open the PDF file provided in the viewer application. Then make sure you see the thumbnail bar on the left side of the window. If you can’t see it, click on “Sidebar” button and click on the “Thumbnails” option.
  • You will now be able to see a list of all pages in the document.
  • Now, go to the menu bar and select the “Edit” option. Here, go to the “Insert” option and click on “File Page” button.
  • The viewer app will now ask you to choose a PDF. Browse to the folder where you saved the second PDF file. After selecting the file, click “Open” button.
  • Now you will see that all pages from the second PDF have been added to the final of the current PDF. To confirm, scroll down in the Thumbnails section to see the total page count.
  • Preview also lets you add individual pages from another PDF file to the original document. To do this, open two PDF files in two different viewports and keep them side by side.
  • Now click and drag the page from the second PDF into the original document. Go to the Thumbnails section and once you have the correct location, release the click to drop the page into the original document. You can repeat this process to add more PDF pages from multiple documents.
  • Now that the PDFs are merged, it’s time to save them as a new PDF file. Go to the “File” section in the menu bar and click “Export as PDF” button.
  • Finally, give the PDF file a new name and once the destination is selected, click on “Save” button.
  • The merged PDF will now be saved in the destination folder.

    • How to Merge PDFs Using Smallpdf

    If you don’t want to use the Preview app, you can use a website to merge PDFs. As an added benefit, this will work on any computer, including Windows and a Chromebook.

    We will be using Smallpdf to do this.

  • Open the Smallpdf Merge PDF tool in your browser to get started. Here, you can select and drag PDF files or click “Choose file” button to select PDF files from local storage.
  • After selecting the files, click on the “Choose” button button.
  • The PDF files will now be uploaded to the website. Smallpdf has two modes for merging PDFs. In Default File mode, you will see preview icons for each PDF. You can reorder the PDFs and click the “Merge PDF!” link button to merge them.
  • After switching to “Page Mode”, you will see all pages from all PDFs listed here. You can drag pages to reorder them. You can also click “Delete” button to remove a specific page from the PDF.
  • When you are satisfied with the order of the pages, click “Merge PDF!” button.
  • On the next page, click on the “Download” button button. You will find the merged PDF in your downloads folder.
