Check the paths for “Computer Configuration Administrative Templates Windows Components Microsoft Edge” or “User Configuration Administrative Templates Windows Components Microsoft Edge” in the Local Group Policy Editor. If the setting used in the method below is already available, use it and skip downloading new policy files.

1. Open your browser and go to the Microsoft website, select your Microsoft Edge version details and click GET POLICY FILES to download.
2. After downloading, extract the zip file using WinRAR or similar application.
3. Open the extracted folder and navigate to “MicrosoftEdgePolicyTemplates windows admx“.
4. Now copy the files “msedge.admx” and “msedge.adml” and paste them in the folder “C: Windows PolicyDefinitions”.
5. Sometimes you must restart your computer to find these new policy files in Local Group Policy Editor.
6. Press the Windows and R keys together on your keyboard to open the Run dialog. Type “gpedit.msc” into the box and press the Enter key to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
7. In the Group Policy Editor window, you need to go to the following path: Computer Configuration Administrative Templates Microsoft Edge
8. Double click on the setting called “Set Download Directory” and it will open up in another window. Now you need to change the toggle option from Not Configured to Enabled.
9. Add the path of the folder you want to set for download in the box below.
