How to Overclock PC’s CPU for Faster Performance – Guide
Your computer’s central processing unit, or CPU, is designed to run at a certain speed. However, some CPUs can be beefed up up a little, giving you more performance for your dollar. This is called overclocking. How to Overclocking a CPU
You have your preliminary stats and you are ready to learn how to overclock your PC. Let’s start.
Start with the BIOS screen
You will need to access your computer’s BIOS menu to overclock the CPU. You can do this by restarting your computer and pressing the indicated button button (usually F2, F10 or F11). Every motherboard is a little different, so be mindful of what yours asks you to push.
What about automatic overclocking?
Some cards have options for automatic overclocking. Automatic overclocking (or OC level, Game Boost) typically doesn’t add much in terms of performance. It’s almost always better to set your own levels.
Modify your CPU multiplier
First, let’s adjust the CPU multiplier (or CPU Ratio). This affects your PC’s basic internal clock speed (usually set to 100MHz); multiply this internal clock speed by the CPU multiplier to measure the overall clock speed (100 x 38 = 3.8 GHz). Increase this multiplier in small iterations. The higher you raise, the hotter your machine will get, causing instability and possible damage to parts in extreme temperatures.
After increasing the speed of one core, you can try increasing other cores as well. The more core multipliers you increase, the more heat your machine will produce. In this, you must be meticulous to increase the multiplier only in very small increments and test your system between increases in heat generation and stability. Save the new settings and restart your PC. Run another benchmark to check CPU performance and stability, then move on to the next section.
Increase CPU voltage
Raising the multiplier is just the first step. Now we need to increase the CPU voltage. This is titled CPU Voltage, CPU Core Voltage, CPU Vcore, CPU VCCIN or a slight variation of these in the BIOS menu.
