As long as it’s remembered, people know that the iconic Windows Start button is in the lower left corner of the PC screen. It is considered a predictable location for a button which is an important piece to go through the computer, but in Windows 11, Microsoft designed the taskbar in a new way. With the release of Windows 11 on October 5th, we will all see taskbar icons, including the Start menu, in the center of the bottom of your computer screen by default.
But do not worry! Windows 11 allows users with a compatible PC to move Start button, along with the rest of the taskbar, to its tried and tested location. Here it is how to Knife.
Fortunately, there is an easy solution. And when you slide the taskbar icons to the left, you’ll see the Start menu open up in the left corner too.
- Right-click on the Windows 11 taskbar in the blank space that other icons aren’t taking up. You will see an option, for Taskbar Settings.
- Click to open the Windows 11 generic Settings menu, specifically Personalization > Taskbar. Scroll down to the final and click Taskbar Behaviors.
- In the first entry, Taskbar Alignment, click on the only other option, Left. This will automatically slide all taskbar icons to the left, bringing you closer to the arrangement that came with Windows 10. That’s all you need to do.
Unfortunately, Windows 11 doesn’t allow you to do some things that Windows 10 did, like physically moving the taskbar to the top, bottom, or sides of the screen. You can’t zoom in or out either. Feel free to play around with the other options in Settings, however, to further tweak the Windows 11 taskbar.
