Craigslist (styled as Craigslist) is an American classifieds site that has sections about jobs, homes, for sale, desired items, services, non-profit services, presentations, résumés, and discussion forums. Craig Newmark began serving as a friend on the e-mail distribution list in 1995 with local events in the San Francisco Bay Area. It became a web-based service in 1996 and has expanded into other classifieds categories. It began expanding to other cities in the US and Canada in 2000 and now covers 70 countries.

Craigslist is like the family store on the internet. It may not sound like much, but you’ll be surprised what you’ll find. Craigslist is an internationally popular website used to post job openings, sales items, real estate, services and personal ads. Take advantage of this free service by creating your own ad. How to Post an Ad on Craigslist

The process of posting an ad on Craigslist is very simple. Just follow these steps:

  • In a web browser, go to Craigslist.
  • The site will automatically transport you to the local Craigslist classifieds it believes are most appropriate for you. However, if the city displayed at the top is not the correct city for your post, you can navigate to the correct city using the column to the right of the page. The location column can be browsed by popular cities or by state.
  • Find your city and select it.
  • Click Post to Classifieds button in the upper left corner of the page. You will be taken to a page where you select the category of your post.
  • On this page you can also login if you have an account. To login, just click on login button in the upper right corner of the screen. However, you can continue and post without having an account. Having an account, which is free, gives you access to a control panel where you can manage your current ads.
  • Select your category and click continue. At this point, you will be prompted to select subcategories depending on the initial category you chose for your post.
  • Choose a subcategory. Once you’ve selected the appropriate ratings for your ad, you’ll be taken to a page to create your post.
  • Enter a post title, post body, zip code (your location) and any other information needed for your post. Required information is highlighted in green. Any information highlighted in black is optional.
  • After entering your data, click continue button. On the next page you will see a map.
  • Here, you can inform potential stakeholders about your location by dragging the location marker to your location or by entering your location in the text boxes.
  • Click continue here to be redirected to the Add Images page.
  • On the Add Images page, you will select the Add Image button button which will redirect you to the images stored on your device.
  • Select your images and continue selecting Done with Images. THE final page is where you can review your ad and see how it will appear to other Craigslist users.
  • If it’s the way you want it, click the Publish button. button. Otherwise, select Edit Post, Edit Location, or Edit Images to make your changes. When you click Publish button, an email will be sent to the email address you entered in the post information.
  • Open the email and select the link to publish. All done!
