How to Remove Chromium Browser from Windows

Terminate running Chromium processes and manually uninstall

Right-click on any empty space on the taskbar and choose Task Manager from the context menu. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Esc. If Task Manager was launched in compact mode, click on “More details” button in the lower left corner.

In the “Processes” tab, locate and click once on “Chromium”.

Click on the “End Task” button button available in the lower right corner of the window. Once you see that Chromium is gone, you can try to uninstall it from Settings → Applications.

Uninstall Chromium from Control Panel

Press Windows + R keys on your keyboard simultaneously to launch the Run application.

Type the word “control” and click the OK button button or press Enter on your keyboard. that will bring up the classic control panel.

Make sure your view mode is set to “Small Icons” or “Large Icons” to ensure you see all Control Panel items.

Click on “Programs and Features” from the available menus.

Locate “Chromium” and right-click on it once. Select “Uninstall” if available and follow the onscreen instructions to remove the software.

Delete Chromium User Data Folders

Press Windows + R keys on your keyboard simultaneously to launch the Run application.

Type “%appdata%” in the input field and click OK button button or press Enter on your keyboard. that will bring up File Explorer and automatically navigate to the AppData → Roaming folder.

Locate the “Chromium” folder.

Right-click the “Chromium” folder and select “Delete” from the context menu.

Next, bring up the Run utility using the Windows + R keyboard shortcut one more time and type “%localappdata%”.

Find and delete the “Chromium” folder here as well.

Navigate to your desktop and empty your Recycle Bin. This should remove all content from your device’s user data folders.

Reset your browser settings to default

Open your web browser. Again, we are using Google Chrome.

Click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the browser. This is Google Chrome’s “More” menu.

Select “Settings”.

Click the “Start Scan” button button to start a malware scan on your device.

Wait for Malwarebytes to finish scanning your PC for malware. If any malicious files are found, you can neutralize them immediately, allowing Malwarebytes to quarantine them.

Optionally allow Malwarebytes to delete malicious files from your PC.
