How to remove Windows 11 and roll back to Windows 10 – Guide
The Windows 11 announcement was surrounded by a lot of emotion in the final June, but was marked by a great disappointment. Microsoft’s new operating system is not expected to be officially released within months, and you’ll be expecting more than that for a free Windows 10 upgrade. So it shouldn’t be surprising that many people have advanced and downloaded Windows 11 beta, which became available a few days after the launch event.
Anyone with a compatible device can subscribe up to the ‘Dev’ channel of the Windows Insider program and download and install it – it has been surprisingly steady so far. However, as a very early build, bugs and other issues are still likely. If you’re not satisfied with your Windows 11 experience so far, there are ways to get your device back to Windows 10. It’s much easier if you do this right after installing the beta, but it’s still possible after that.
How to Uninstall Windows 11
- Navigate to the Settings Recovery submenu. The quickest way to get there is to search for “back to Windows 10” and click on the main result. You can also navigate to Settings->System->Recovery.
- Click Back.
- Check one or more reasons for uninstalling it when prompted.
- Click “No Thanks” when prompted to check for updates instead of rolling back. Microsoft would love to keep it on Windows 11, but if you’re determined up, it’s done up.
- Click Next.
- Click Next again when prompted that you need to remember your Windows 10 password. This should not be said.
- Click “Back to Windows 10.”
The system will restart and go through a restoration process that should take a few minutes.
When that’s done, you’ll be back in Windows 10.
