How to skip Microsoft Account setup in your Windows 11 Home OOBE – Guide
That’s right, you read it correctly. On Windows 11 Home Out-of-Box Experience, you can bypass Microsoft account settings (OOBE). This has been attempted on two WiFi computers and a VM with an Ethernet connection.
See how it’s done:
Start OOBE and make sure you have an Internet connection (I haven’t found a way around this part yet). Go through the first screens for language options and other things.
When you get to the Microsoft account screen, press Shift-F10 to open a command prompt.
If you are using a wireless connection, use this command: netsh wlan disconnect
Type exit and press
Hit the back arrow at the top. You should now be prompted with a basic local user account creation screen.
If you are on a wired connection, use this command first: netsh interface show interface
Find the Ethernet adapter name and replace it in the command below where it says Ethernet. Keep quotes – it is used to parse spaces in case it has a long name.
netsh interface set interface name = “Ethernet” admin = DISABLED
Hit back. You should get the same result.
When you log into Windows, you may need to reconnect manually. If you want to do this easily for LAN, go to Settings & Network and use the Troubleshooting options to re-enable it, or go to Device Manager and enable the device. For WLAN, just use the normal wireless icon next to the clock.
You’re welcome!
