Ctrl + Left/Right Arrows: Moves between workspaces or spaces. If you are working with multiple monitors, it will only change the desktops on the screen you are currently using. Cmd+N: Allows you to create a new item, and what that item is will depend on the app you are currently using. In Chrome and Finder it will create new windows and in Stickies a new note will appear up. Speaking of Finder, there are several useful shortcuts specific to this Mac workhorse. Select a file and press the spacebar to preview – this will save you from having to wait while a heavy application loads to know if you have the correct file or not. You can also rename a selected file in a Finder window by pressing Enter. Don’t forget to press Enter again to save your changes. Navigating the Finder is easy and intuitive – just browse through the files using the up and down arrows. But if you want to go through folders, Cmd + up arrow will move you to the attached folder, while Cmd + down arrow will move you to the selected folder. As we mentioned earlier, Cmd + N opens additional Finder windows, but Cmd + Shift + N creates a new folder inside the one that is currently open. Finally, the best cheat sheet is always at the top of the screen. In the navigation bar, click a menu and look to the right of each item to see the shortcut for that specific action.
