How To Turn-off Snapchat’s Snap Maps – Guide
Snapchat Snapmap lets you track your Snapchat friends on a map from anywhere in the world. For some, it’s a great social feature; for others – especially parents who are concerned about the privacy of their young children who use the platform – it’s almost frightening. Parents and schools warned that it could “create an image of home addresses, travel routes, schools and workplaces” and this location information can be shared with unknown people, such as websites.
How to turn off snapshot maps
Open Snapchat
First, launch the Snapchat app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. If you are not already logged in, enter your email and password before opening the camera part of the app.
Find Snap Map
Using two fingers, swipe towards the center of the screen to access Snap Map.
Open the settings and enable Ghost Mode
To access your settings, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Then switch the slide next to Ghost Mode, which should be the first item in the resulting list.
With Ghost Mode turned on, your friends will not be able to see your location on the map. You will still be able to see your own avatar, but it will have a blue Snapchat logo in front of its face to indicate that other users cannot see it. Remember that you can turn off Ghost Mode at any time by following the same steps.
