How to Turn on Windows 11 Dark Mode – Guide
Many of us have upgraded to Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 11, now that it’s available. (If you haven’t already, check out our article on how to upgrade from windows 10 to 11.) Now that’s time to find out how to make Microsoft’s new platform look like home. Dark Mode, which makes the entire operating system look a little calmer and more pleasing to the eye, is one of my favorite Windows features to turn on right after each new installation. Dark Mode is included in Windows 11, but not turned on by default; you’ll have to dig through the Settings menu to find it. With that in mind, the following instructions will guide you through the process of enabling the feature.
Is there a dark mode for Windows 11?
Windows 11 includes a built-in dark mode that will automatically switch Windows to a dark theme. This feature works very similar to Windows 10 dark theme feature introduced in Windows 10 by an update patch, but is available in Windows 11 by default with nothing extra to download or install. Here it is how to enable dark mode in windows 11.
Can you make Windows dark mode?
Windows dark mode is a feature built into Windows 11, so you don’t need to do that, you just need to activate it. However, Windows 11 allows for a bit of customization. If you choose custom instead of light or dark, you can set light and dark mode independently for Windows interface and apps, if you prefer dark mode for Windows itself and light mode for apps or vice versa. You can also set a custom highlight color and display it in windows and on the taskbar. Here it is how to use Windows 11 dark mode customization options.
Using Windows 11 Night Light Feature
Windows 11 includes a built-in blue light filter called Night Light. The idea behind it feature is to reduce the contrast of your screen and its surroundings. Night Light gradually changes the screen’s color temperature from blue tones during the day to warmer orange tones at night. As the process is gradual, you’re unlikely to notice unless you look at a nightlight screen next to a screen with no nightlight on. Night Light can be used in conjunction with Windows 11’s dark mode or on its own. Here it is how to enable night light in windows 11.
