How to Use Modes and Routines in One UI 5 on Samsung

The Samsung Settings app has seen some significant improvements in One UI 5.0. Previously, we investigated the Connected devices menu of the Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphone running One UI 5.0 beta, now it’s time to take a dive into “Modes and Routines”.

The Modes and Routines menu, which replaces the Bixby Routines option in the Advanced feature section, is a new addition to Galaxy Settings. It allows you to add a number of settings and routines to create more unique experiences. Modes and Routines are two unique methods for doing the same task. These tools allow you to rapidly adjust the configuration of your Samsung phone  and tailor it to your needs.

As an example, you may use the Workout Mode to exercise or build a Sleep Routine before going to bed. As a result, your device’s settings will automatically change to accommodate those conditions. Steps to Use Modes in One UI 5 on Samsung

  • At the bottom of the Modes tab in Settings, tap Add Mode > Custom.
  • Give the new mode a name and choose an icon design and color.
  • Tap Done and the Custom Mode Summary screen opens.
  • Tap where it says Turn on automatically and select the condition that must be met for the mode to activate.
  • Work your way down the summary screen, selecting each section and changing the settings to suit your needs.

  • Open Settings > Modes and Routines and select the Routines tab. All the routines you have created with Bixby are listed here.
  • To add a new routine, tap the + button at the top of the screen.
  • Tap the If button to add a trigger for the routine, such as a time or location. You can also add conditions to the trigger, such as requiring a certain amount of battery power to be available.
  • Tap the Then button to select the actions that will be triggered when the if-conditions are met. You can select more than one action to be triggered.
  • When you have set the trigger and action, tap Done. You can then add a name, icon, and color highlighting for the routine.
  • The last thing you need to do is specify what should happen when the routine ends. For example, if Bluetooth was enabled, you can specify whether it should be disabled again.
