How to use new Android 12L on Chromebook – Guide
A month earlier, when Google officially announced Android 12, we noticed some evidence within the AOSP Gerrit suggesting that Google would release a graded update after Android 12. Not long after that, we took a first look at this interval update and found it to would compress a couple of new ones features developed and improved for foldable devices. Requirements to use Android 12L
- You need a powerful Chromebook to use Android 12L, preferably equipped with an Intel or AMD processor. If an ARM-based Mediatek or Snapdragon processor powers your Chrome OS device, you can’t test Android 12L right now. In the future, Google may also add support for these cards.
- You need Linux support on your Chromebook. Therefore, most school-issued Chromebooks may not be able to take advantage of the Android 12L, at least for now. Note that Google has recently allowed the use of Linux even on school Chromebooks, but it will be up for the school administrator to unlock the feature.

- After installing Linux, open Terminal and run the following command to keep everything A today.

- If you get an error like “not available” or “unable to connect”, run the following command. This will change the repository from Buster to oldstable. - Next, you need to install Linux Java Development Kit (JDK) on your Chromebook. To do this, run the following command in Terminal.

Install Android 12L on Chromebook
- Then download the Canary version of Android Studio from the link here. It will be downloaded in DEB file format.
- After that, open the Files application and move the DEB file to the Linux section.
- Now open the DEB file and install it immediately. Please note that the installation process will take some time, so be patient.
- Once the installation is complete, open Android Studio in the launcher. You will find it in the “Linux” folder.
- Now follow the onscreen setup instructions and keep everything as default. Click “Next” and complete the setup. The installer will download some packages from the Internet.
- Once the installation is complete, go to the Windows / Mac section above and follow the instructions in step 4. From here on, the steps for Windows, Mac and Chromebooks are the same.
