How to Whiten Your Teeth using Paint.net – Guide
In that tutorial, I will show you how to whiten teeth in Photoshop with a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer that allows us to whiten and whiten teeth at the same time. We’ll start by learning how to whiten a single person’s teeth in a photo and then we’ll learn how to Whiten teeth of two or more people in the same photo with separate layers of adjustment. When I zoom in, we see a little yellow in the teeth, especially on the man on the left. Both people’s teeth can also use whitening.
Open the image in Photoshop (teeth whitening in Photoshop)
Opening the image in photo editing software is the basic thing you need to do. When it comes to editing the image, you cannot do this manually. Well, if you think you can do that, I suppose you should try. Literally, teeth whitening is not possible manually. Therefore, you need to use a reliable photo editing software, which is Photoshop. You can also use Paint Net to whiten your teeth, but we’re not going to use that one for now. Open the image in Photoshop and go to the next step.
Hue / Saturation Adjustment Layer (Tooth Whitening in Photoshop)
Let’s zoom in so we can focus on the teeth area and see what changes we’re making. Add a hue/saturation adjustment layer over the background layer. Use the hand tool and click on the teeth area to choose up a sample. Now what is the most common visual error in teeth? I know, you guessed it. Yes, it’s yellow. When choosing the color of the teeth area, you will have yellow selected in the properties.
Adjusting the Hue / Saturation Adjustment Layer
To find out the affected area while adjusting, move the sliders to the right under Hue and Saturation. Now we need to work on the color gamut. For best results, narrow the selection so that the color is not manipulated with others. Also, be sure not to select too narrow an area that you cannot select the tooth area correctly. You can use the left and right sliders to select the area. And you can move the selected area by clicking and dragging from the middle. Also, you can adjust the outer and inner sliders to the left and right to make a perfect selection.
When you’re done selecting, bring the hue and saturation back to the middle. Move the saturation slider a little to the left and your teeth will look beautiful. Since we’re working on the white color, move the Brightness slider a little to the right to get more white on them. You can also move the Hue slider a little to the left, but we won’t do that for this image. But, there is something we need to take care of. You can see that the entire image is affected by the pitch. So let’s move on to the next step to fix this.
Select the teeth area (Teeth whitening in Photoshop)
The first thing you need to do is make a selection. Well, it’s pretty obvious to select a specific area to make changes to. In this case of tooth whitening, you don’t need to be very precise in your selection, but try to do it well. The perfection of the editing job starts with the selection.
You can use any selection tool, including the Pen tool to create a clipping path. With the process, you can have the most accurate selection. Well, it’s not always important to make the selection so precise. So it’s better to use the convenient tool that you can handle well.
invert mask
For this process, we will use the Hue / Saturation Adjustment Layer inversion mask. Select the mask and press Ctrl + I for Win or Command + I for MAC to invert. Take the soft round toothbrush and with the white foreground color, brush the tooth area. To set the default foreground and background color swatch, use the ‘D’ keyboard key. Use the ‘X’ key on your keyboard to toggle between default black and white colors. You will have the changes with the mask only in the teeth area. So for this procedure, this is the selection. Finally, you can lower the opacity a little for a natural tone. And that’s it.
Extra Touch
Sometimes teeth whitening needs a little extra touch. If you focus correctly, you will find some dark lines on the teeth still visible. To banish the darkness, we will use the Brush Tool. So, grab a new layer over the top layer and select the Brush tool. here you don’t need to select default colors for foreground and background. We will use Alt / Option for Win / MAC to sample for brushing. Press and hold Alt / Option and choose a swatch from the clean white area.
You can resize the brush in the brush settings or with the ‘ button[‘ or ‘]’ key. Well, there are other ways, but that will be enough. Keep ‘Normal’ mode and use 2-3% flow rate. Now brush the dark areas of your teeth. Make sure you don’t overdo it. Teeth will look unreal if you brush a lot. Finally, we’re lowering the opacity to 70% of this image to keep the edit realistic. See the image below and find the differences.
