- If possible, maintain a minimalistic approach when it comes to organizing your work desk. If it’s not important for your work, you might as well put it somewhere else. Less clutter means less eye sore.
Manage and Eliminate Distractions
You have a lot to do, so try not to get distracted by things at home. One bad thing about working from home is that it is easy to get sidetracked. There are social media, gadgets, Netflix, housework, and other things to do.
And if you have kids or pets that need your attention, it can be hard to stay on task every once in a while. Set up a home office where you can work without being interrupted by anything else at home.
Focus on One Task at a Time
It has been shown that trying to do more than one thing at once is not a good way to get more done. Multitasking doesn’t help you get things done right. Instead, it means that you do more than one thing quickly after another in a short amount of time.
If you do this, you won’t be able to think more deeply about what you’re doing, which can make it harder to get things done. The best way to get through your list of things to do is to take care of one thing at a time. When you finish one task, you can move on to the next.

- Drafting: This is where I turn my notes from my research into a text. It won’t be ready for publication by a long shot. I’m just trying to get a lot of words down and make the text make sense.
- Editing – This is where the real writing work begins. During the editing process, I clean up the text, make it sound good, add any missing information or links, and finish the text as a whole.
- Visuals: The next step is to add screenshots and other images, such as embedded videos or updates from social media. I have usually already marked the places where I want to add these during research and drafting. This is very easy to do with the image block in WordPress.
Build Healthy Habits
- Change one thing at a time. If you try to alter too much at once, it’s more likely you will get frustrated and give up.
- In the beginning, consistency is more important than volume. So, start very small. Make your new habits something that you can complete very quickly. This reduces excuses not to do it. For example, I got myself to work out regularly by committing to five minutes every other day.
Stay focused
Having a daily routine and planning your work in advance are both good ideas, as long as you can stick to them. And with the myriads of work distractions available to us that’s far from a given. Let’s get you to focus on improving how well you do your job.
