The Anker SoundCore Life P2 are good truly wireless in-ear headphones with a good price-performance ratio. They have nearly identical design, fit, and sound reproduction to the Anker SoundCore Liberty Air 2, but are a less expensive version that lacks some of the more premium features, such as a dedicated app and wireless charging. Their sound profile is versatile enough for most musical genres, but they have a nice little extra thump and punch in the bass range. Their in-ear design may not be for everyone, but they are quite stable and even IPX7 rated, making them a good choice for wearing to the gym.
There are only a few distinct form factors in the world of true wireless, and the Soundcore Life P2 is firmly in the inspired-by-Airpods category, which means they blatantly copy Apple’s design. The Soundcore Life P2 earbuds make up for their lack of originality with comfort and utility. The wireless earbuds are feather-light and have a reassuringly snug fit, which is aided by the inclusion of several silicon tips in various sizes. The stalk from the earbuds is dark, so they don’t stand out as much as the white AirPods, but they’re also not overly long.
Each bud has a single button with simple functionality, which helps to keep things simple. The carrying case is also lightweight and charges via the superior USB-C standard, which is a nice touch that we don’t always get at this price point. It has a large battery that allows for up to 40 hours of use away from the charger when charging and using on the go. We discovered that we never needed to recharge the case itself while using the buds for a standard commute over a week, as there was more than enough juice to top-up the buds every couple of days.
Overall, these earbuds are unobtrusive, comfortable, and functional. The case fits nicely into a commuter’s coat pocket, which is what it was designed for. The only decoration is a small gold accent on the rim of each bud; otherwise, they’re a plain affair, which is to be expected given the low price point.
The Soundcore Life P2 earbuds come with a slew of marketing jargon, as is typical for audio products sold primarily on Amazon. Their price is justified by “graphene drivers, beamforming noise reduction, cVc 8.0 technology, BassUp technology, PUSH AND GO technology” and other features, but the majority of this can be ignored.
What matters is the experience of using the buds, which is generally positive. To begin with, Bluetooth connectivity is superior. Using an iPhone 11, we discovered that reception remained consistent across rooms and through various walls, with no skips or dropouts, and that this also held true while on the move. When the buds are removed from their case, they immediately connect to the last device used.
