How to Change Your Windows 11 PC’s Theme – Guide
When it comes to Windows 11, it comes with six beautiful themes: Windows (light), Windows (dark), Brightness, Motion captured, Sunrise and Flow. Windows Light and Dark themes contain only one background image, while other themes contain four background images each. By default the Windows (light) theme is applied as the default theme on Windows 11 PCs. When you turn on dark mode, the Windows (dark) theme is applied.
While there’s nothing wrong with the default design, all computer users don’t like it and want to change it. Windows 11 has an easy option to change the default theme. You can easily select one of the themes offered in the Settings app. If you’re not satisfied with any of the six themes that come with Windows 11, you can download and install new themes from the Microsoft Store or another third-party website.
choose a theme
To change Windows 11 color, open Settings > System > Personalization. From this menu, you can select a theme to apply to all Windows menus. These themes can change the background, desktop icons, taskbar, highlight colors, apps, and settings menus. Windows 11 comes with several themes preloaded, some of which make different elements black. There is an official dark theme, but the Glow and Motion captured themes also offer dark mode.
From Settings > System > Personalization > Themes, you can choose Browse Themes to open the Microsoft Store and add new themes to your computer. Click Contrast Themes to open accessibility settings with themes for low vision and light sensitivity. (You can also get it here via Accessibility > Contrast Themes.) Many of these themes add black elements to Windows 11. Choose your favorite theme from the drop-down menu and click Apply. Select Edit to change individual color elements for each theme.
Customize Colors
Rather than a predefined combination of changes, you may prefer to change individual colors and customize what is and is not affected by dark mode. On the Personalization screen, go to Colors. You can then set a more traditional dark mode or change the accent colors. Open the Choose Your Mode drop-down menu to choose between Light, Dark and Custom. This will change the color of the menus within Windows 11, but it won’t change the background. Click Custom and you can select which OS components will use Dark and which will use Light.
In the Highlight Colors section, you can choose your preferred color to be used along with the chosen mode. Select one of the palettes offered by Windows or click Show Colors on the Custom Colors menu to create your own color. Other options let you control where these accent colors appear, such as the taskbar and title bars.
