The Windows taskbar allows you to access the most used apps and especially the open ones. It can also be tweaked to work however you like. You can move it to other sides of the screen, automatically hide it when you don’t need it, change icon sizes, and more. See how. The Windows taskbar is a great way to access your essential programs and services like Bluetooth.
By default, Windows 10 places the most important icons on the right in the system tray, while you have all the space in between to pin program icons. If you only have a few to pin, you can center them on the taskbar for a more aesthetic look. This article will show you how to centralize Windows 10 taskbar icons without any third-party software.
Pin apps to the taskbar
The first thing you should know how to to do is pin an app to the taskbar. You can do this from the Start menu, Start screen, or Apps list. Click Start button and right-click any icon or application tile. Select More > Pin to taskbar to lock the application to the Windows taskbar. To remove it, right-click the taskbar icon and select Unpin from taskbar.
move the taskbar
By default, the taskbar appears at the bottom of the screen, but it can also be moved to the top or side of the screen. To do this manually, click on any empty area of the taskbar and drag it to your preferred location.
If you’d prefer Windows to do the movement for you, right-click any empty area of the taskbar and click Taskbar Settings in the pop-up window.up menu. Scroll down to the taskbar location on the screen and use the drop-down menu to select left, top, right (as illustrated above), or bottom.
Hide the taskbar
Let’s say you want the taskbar to remain hidden unless you move the mouse to its location. If you are using your Windows device in desktop mode, open the taskbar settings and enable the option that says Automatically hide taskbar in desktop mode.
If you are in tablet mode, enable the option that says Auto hide taskbar in tablet mode. Your taskbar will disappear and only reappear when you move your mouse cursor and hover over the bar’s location.
Moving icons on the taskbar
If you don’t like the placement of icons on the taskbar, you can easily move them. Simply press an icon with your mouse (or finger on a touchscreen device) and drag it left or right. Release when the icon is in its new preferred location.
Adjust icon size
Let’s say you want to put more icons on the taskbar. Open the taskbar settings and activate the Use small taskbar option buttons, and the existing icons will decrease in size. If the icons are too small, go back to the taskbar settings and turn off the taskbar to return to the larger size.
See desktop
The small section of the Windows taskbar in the lower right corner of the screen is known as Show Desktop button. If you click on button, it provides a quick way to switch between the desktop and all open windows.
spy on desktop
Want to take a peek at your desktop without closing or minimizing all open windows? Open the taskbar settings window and enable Use Peek to view desktop by moving mouse to Show desktop option button at the final from the taskbar. Now move your mouse to the bottom right corner of the screen. By hovering over Show desktop button, your desktop should appear. Move the mouse cursor away from that point and your desktop will go back into hiding.
