Arlo Go 2 review 2024: great image quality

The Arlo Go 2 is a smart home security camera that can go places where other cameras can’t. The Go 2 is an update from the original Go. It can record Full HD video and connect to Wi-Fi and 4G wireless networks. With a recharging battery that lasts a long time and a weatherproof shell, the Go 2 can be set up almost anywhere, indoors or out. Its dual connectivity makes it a good choice for protecting caravans, boats, or trailers that move in and out of Wi-Fi range.

It could also be useful for protecting garages, sheds, or larger properties where your Wi-Fi signal might not reach regularly. The Arlo Go 2 has a style that looks and feels a lot like other cameras in the same line, like the Arlo Pro 4. It’s a little bit longer than most types, except for the Arlo Floodlight, because the battery in the back is bigger. In an interesting move, Arlo has made the Pro 4 XL and Ultra 2 XL, which have longer battery lives, come with this bigger case.

There is no magnetic mount for the Go 2 because it is too small. Instead, you get a screw mount that you can use to connect the wall/ceiling mount that was given to you. The camera can be charged using the normal magnetic connector on the bottom of the unit. This connector can also be used to charge the camera using solar panels. Arlo Go 2: Video Quality

The Arlo Go 2 has a wide field of view, both indoors and out. However, it is the outcome of a compromise. The Arlo Go 2 has a lower resolution (1080p) than newer Arlo cameras (2K or higher). Still, compared to the 720p resolution of the original, this is an improvement.

Even yet, compared to competing models, this camera falls short. However, because of the reduced resolution, it is more likely that the camera will be able to broadcast video over 4G without interruption.

Arlo Go 2: Performance

As with all smart cameras, there is a degree of latency, which means that the two-way conversation is more suited to deterring unwanted visitors than to engaging in thoughtful conversation. Some people are calling for more resolution, but we find a good 1080P better.

However, battery performance may not be what we expected; our test with animals – watching foxes play in the garden – resulted in the camera making a large number of recordings. That was what we were looking for, and we opted for quality over battery life, but on the downside the charge dropped by 9% in 24 hours. Arlo Go 2 battery life varies with the amount of recording and the level of activity. If you record for an average of 5 minutes per day, the battery should last you anywhere from two to three months. Overuse will cause the battery to drain faster.

We also discovered that the battery life was affected by the cell phone’s signal strength. If the signal is weak, the battery won’t last as long. It wasn’t quite as much as Arlo had predicted, but it was sufficient. The battery life of two to three months was plenty for me

The Arlo Go 2 is an enhancement over the first model in that it can connect to either Wi-Fi or 4G networks and can switch between the two without any interruptions. Although it has a resolution that is smaller than the majority of the Arlo range, its Full HD resolution is an improvement over the one found on the original. This model is pricey, but it is the best option if you need security camera coverage in an area where there is no Wi-Fi. The majority of folks will agree that the Arlo Pro 4 is the superior option.
