All of that is in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, along with all the DLC that has been released so far and some new things. That means you get 48 great courses, 42 different characters, including new ones like Bowser Jr. and the Inklings from Splatoon, and some cool extras like the 200cc speed class, which is so fast it will blow your mind.
The game starts with every course, character, and mode open, so you can just jump in and start racing. Smart Steering, a new tool meant to help new players stay on the road, was added in an odd way. It’s not a bad idea at all to help new players learn how to play a simple game like Mario Kart, but Nintendo left Smart Steering on by default, and it’s not clear how to turn it off in the settings.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe review: Blending old and new
When a game has been going on for a long time, it can be easy for it to feel old and not worth buying anymore. But Nintendo did a good job with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by keeping the things fans love and adding enough new stuff to make it worth buying again.
When this game came out for the Wii U, it had some downloadable content (DLC). When it came out for the Nintendo Switch as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, we were worried that it was just a way to make more money by selling all the DLC separately again. Luckily, that worry was put to rest, and everything came with just a few changes for Deluxe. You can download this game from its official website
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe review: Karts and courses
Even though they didn’t make an entirely new game for the Switch, they did add more karts and tracks. If you already had Mario Kart 8, this makes it worth buying because of the extra content. Who doesn’t want to play on more courses? Since fight Mode is my favorite, the return of the Luigi’s Mansion fight course from GameCube was especially exciting for me. If you liked a track in an earlier Mario Kart game, it’s likely to be in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well.
Verdict
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a great game for all the same reasons I said it was great in the first review. It’s still a beautiful kart racer that’s just as fun as it was in 2014. This is the best book in the series so far, and it has everything you need to know. A lot of this game is familiar to people who have played it before, but the updated Battle mode and five new ways to play are great reasons to buy it. Nintendo didn’t do enough to improve the online play, but the rest of the game is still good.

In Mario Kart 8, each figure is in one of three weight classes: Light, Medium, or Heavy. As you might expect, characters that are lighter have a slower top speed but accelerate much faster. Characters that are larger, on the other hand, get off the ground more slowly but have a faster top speed.
Mario won’t fall off the edge today because of the Smart Steering. Smart Steering is a feature that was added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to make the game easy to play. When Smart Steering is on, the player’s car will automatically follow the lines of the road and can’t go off-road.
