How to star a message on Instagram

Once a message has been tagged, you can filter those tagged messages with the new function. Follow the steps below to flag a post on Instagram.

Open the Instagram app and tap the DM (Direct Message) icon located in the right corner section.

Choose the message you want to star, then keep holding the message, long tap. A bang-up menu will now appear, tap the star icon there.

You can also tag a message directly in the chat thread. Open the chat topic and tap the star icon on the top bar. You can easily reverse the step of unchecking messages. You can find brief instructions on how to do this below.

Open your Instagram account and tap the ‘Direct Message’ icon.

Choose the starred message you want to deselect by long tapping the message. Choose the ‘Unmark’ option now to remove the star from the message.
