Even if you use different cloud-based accounts for these two versions of OneNote, you can use Microsoft OneNote on your iPad or iPhone to keep in sync with any notebooks you’ve made using OneNote 2016 on your Mac or PC.

Since OneNote 2016 for Mac and PC requires notebooks to be saved to a cloud-based OneDrive account, notebooks you made and used with that account are already accessible on your iPad or iPhone as long as you are signed in to the same account OneDrive from your Mac or PC.

To create more notebooks in the same OneDrive account, follow these steps:

1. In Microsoft OneNote on your iPad or iPhone, tap More Notebooks at the bottom of the notebook list.
2. Tap any additional notebook you want to open and navigate to its sections or pages.

Open Mac or PC notebooks

Step 1: Add your OneDrive account from Mac or PC to iPad or iPhone

1. In Microsoft OneNote, go to Settings on your device:

2. On an iPad, tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner.
3. On an iPhone, tap the ellipsis icon (…) and tap Settings.
4. Under Account, tap the currently selected account. (If you are signed out of all accounts, tap Sign in.)
5. In Connected services, tap + Add a service.
6. In Connect a cloud service, tap OneDrive.
7. Enter the OneDrive account email address you use for OneNote notebooks on your Mac or PC, then tap Next.
8. On the next screen, enter the password for the OneDrive account you use for OneNote notebooks on your Mac or PC, then tap Sign In.

Now that you’ve authenticated your access to the OneDrive account you use on your Mac or PC, you can open notebooks there.

Step 2: Open notebooks from your Mac or PC to your iPad or iPhone

1. In Microsoft OneNote on your iPad or iPhone, tap More Notebooks at the bottom of the notebook list.
2. Tap any additional notebook you want to open and navigate to its sections or pages.
