How to Add a Location to Photos in Photos app for Mac – Guide

With Photos for Mac, Apple released an iWork: that is, the reinterpretation of how you should organize and manage your photos on devices wasn’t originally as comprehensive as the now-discontinued iPhoto. This is especially the case if you need to edit the location of some photos in your library: Photos for Mac only has this feature with the OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan software update.

How to Add a location to an image in photos for OS X

You can add locations to one or multiple images, depending on what you select in the Photos app:

Open the Photos app and double-click the photo you want to add a location to (alternatively, you can select multiple images from the Albums or Photos view if you want to apply the location to all selected images).

Click on (i) button in the menu bar Photos to bring up up the image info inspector window.

Click “Assign a location” and start typing the location name – this uses a Maps app-based location search to find * and assign locations, then select a matching location in the search and press “Return” to assign that location to the photo when you are satisfied.
