How to Change Pre-Set Fonts in MS Word – Guide
How many Microsoft Word documents have you seen using Calibri or Times New Roman? An unfathomable number, we would deduce. Unfortunately, most users don’t lose the default organization when making Word documents. This is a shame as there are actually a wide range of text styles to fit the style of document you’re creating.
In case you have a font style that you use consistently, changing the font style each time can be aggravating. Fortunately, it is possible to change the default font style in Word. This allows you to use a similar font style in every new Microsoft Word document you create. Assuming you need to change the default font style in Word, that’s what you’ll have to do.
Changing the default font style in Word is simple. Truth be told, you can set the font style for Word documents by clicking on the styles and setting the explicit font style for each style, which means you can have some font styles as the default text style for your document. To do this, click on one of the styles in the menu. For example, click on the “Normal” style and select “Modify”.
This will open the “Normal” style and you will have a wide range of options. You will find the text style under Formatting. Select the font style you need to use and this will be your default font style for the “Normal” style. This is the most direct way to change Word’s default font style in newer versions. More experienced versions were somewhat unique.
Changing the default font in Word 2010 and later is easy:
The default font will now change in the open document and any future blank documents you create. If you only want to change the font in the open document, follow the same instructions, but choose the option “Only this document” in step 5.
Note that you cannot change the default font if you are using Word Online. Although you can change the font in the current document, the next time you create a new blank document, the font will automatically be set to Calibri.
