How to Connect MySQL to Google Sheets – Guide

Connect Google Sheets to MySQL

Access the add-on from any of your spreadsheets by going to the Add-ons toolbar.

Click on MySQL integration.

Click on + button from the database connection to add a new MySQL database connection. You can have multiple databases connected to your spreadsheet to extract data.

Add your database connection credentials. Use a read-only user for security precautions. When finished, check if the connection was successful with the “Connection test” button. It is important to note that your database host must be accessible from the Internet. Therefore, a localhost database will not work – you need to expose it on the Internet.

After adding the database connection, name your query and write the SQL query you want to bring into the spreadsheet and click create query. The data will be taken from the selected cell of the spreadsheet.

You can add as many mysql queries as you like from various databases and even other data sources! These queries can be edited or updated from the Manage Queries menu.

When you’re done adding your mysql queries to the spreadsheet, make sure you set auto-update triggers with email notifications or Slack!
