  • The text qualifier is the character that includes the values ​​in an imported file. All text between two qualifying characters will be imported as a value, even if the text contains the specified delimiter.
  • Generally, you choose the double quote symbol (“) as the text qualifier. To verify this, you can click Back and see which character includes the values ​​in the preview of your CSV file.
  • In our case, all numbers with thousands separator (which is also a comma) are enclosed in double quotes like “3,392”, which means they will be imported into a cell. Without specifying the double quote sign as a text qualifier, the numbers before and after a thousands separator would go into two adjacent columns.
  • To ensure that your data is imported as expected, please take a close look at the data preview before clicking Next.
  • Set the data format. Default is General – converts numeric values ​​to numbers, datetime values ​​to dates, and all other data types to text.
  • To keep the leading zeros, choose the Text format.
  • To display dates correctly, choose the date format and then choose an appropriate format from the drop-down box.
  • Choose whether to import data into an existing spreadsheet or a new one and click OK.

  • Data Type Detection. You can let Excel automatically determine the data type for each column based on the first 200 rows (default) or
