How to fix iPhone touchscreen issue if it’s not working – Guide
Restart your iPhone
The first step should be obvious: restart your iPhone.
Try to restart it normally while holding the side button and volume Up/Low button on iPhone X and later models (only hold the side / top button on iPhone SE (2020) / iPhone 8 and earlier models). If your touchscreen is still responsive enough to slide the Slide to off slider, slide it. so hold the side button(or Top button) until boot up again.
Of course, you may find that the touchscreen is unresponsive and unable to turn off the iPhone normally. In that case, try a hard reset.
For iPhone 8 and later models (including iPhone SE (2020)), quickly press and release Volume Up button, quickly press and release the volume down button, then hold the side button until the Apple logo appears. For iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, press and hold the side button button and turn down the volume button until the Apple logo appears. For iPhone 6S and earlier, press and hold the Home button and top / side button until the Apple logo appears. In most cases, resetting the iPhone will fix an unresponsive touchscreen, so this should be the first thing you try before trying anything else.
Check your screensaver
Screen protectors are generally pretty thin these days, but in some rare cases they could be the reason the iPhone’s touchscreen isn’t working. Therefore, you should verify that the screensaver has been correctly applied to the iPhone’s touchscreen. If not, try removing and reapplying or reapplying a new protector if one is available.
Even if your screensaver was applied correctly, try removing it. It could be that, for some reason, it is interfering with the functioning of the touch screen. If your iPhone’s touchscreen starts to work properly after removing it, you might consider giving up a screensaver or buying a new (possibly thinner) screensaver.
Update your iPhone
Assuming you’ve tried the above two steps and the iPhone touchscreen still isn’t responding, you should try updating iPhone by connecting it to your computer. You will not be able to update it normally (due to the unresponsive touchscreen) and will instead have to put it into recovery mode before updating.
Here’s what you do:
Step 1: Connect your device to your computer. If you are running MacOS Catalina 10.15 (or higher), launch the Finder. If you’re running MacOS Mojave 10.14 (or earlier) – or Windows (on a PC) – launch iTunes.
Step 2: If you have an iPhone 8 or later, quickly press and release Volume Up button, quickly press and release the volume down button, then press the side button button until the recovery mode screen appears. For iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, hold the top / side button and turn down the volume button simultaneously until the recovery mode screen appears. For iPhone 6S or earlier, press and hold the Home button and the top / side button.
Step 3: A window will appear on your computer, giving you the option to Restore or Update your iPhone. Click Update.
Factory reset iPhone
Updating your iPhone should resolve any software-related issues that may be causing your iPhone’s touchscreen to freeze. However, if it still doesn’t work, it might be worth doing a factory reset on your iPhone. If your iPhone’s touchscreen doesn’t respond, you won’t be able to back up up before performing a factory reset. no support up via the iPhone itself or from a computer is possible, as even connecting it to a computer normally requires you to tap Trust your iPhone.
However, you might still want to go ahead and perform a factory reset without a up- updated backup. To do this, follow the three steps described in the section above, but in this case, click Restore in the final process instead of Update.
Contact Apple
Factory resetting your iPhone can be a difficult option, so it may be worth contacting Apple Support. This is probably a safer one. final Resort to resetting your iPhone to its original configuration, as Apple may be able to fix the problem – which may be hardware related – without having to erase your iPhone’s memory.
