If your small business uses GoDaddy as its website server, you probably have a free GoDaddy email alias linked to your website’s domain name. Due to the way the system works, you will have to log into your GoDaddy account every time you want to do something with your email, including sending, receiving or simply checking messages. However, what if you already have a Gmail account?
You can attach your GoDaddy email address to your Gmail account using a GoDaddy email forwarding technique. That way you can handle your email interactions much more conveniently and efficiently. You can quickly send, receive and check messages directly from your Gmail account once your GoDaddy email is linked to it.
How to Knife
Add GoDaddy Domain Email Address
To forward emails from your GoDaddy domain email to your Gmail account, you will have to go to the “Import” tab in your Gmail to do the linking. The tab can be easily accessed by logging into your Gmail and clicking on “Settings” button. This button is in the upper right corner of the Gmail app. Once there, click on the button labeled “Accounts and Import” which is next to the “General” tab. A screen will appear titled “Send Email As”. There you can click on button labeled “Send email from another address” and you’ll see a pop-up window. You will enter your GoDaddy name and email address. When finished, click on “Next step”.
Enter SMTP server information
After entering your GoDaddy email, Gmail will ask for your SMTP server information. If you have no idea what this information is or where to find it, just click the “Help” button button at the top of the screen and click on the button labeled “Email Client Settings”. There you will find your POP3 and SMTP settings.
Once on the settings page, click on the button labeled “Send via SMTP server Address.com”. You must enter your SMTP server name and open the drop-down menu below to click on port 465. You can then enter your GoDaddy domain email and password and select the option “Always use a secure connection (SSL) ) when sending email. ”
Be sure to double-check your settings so you don’t make mistakes. Now you can click on “Add Account”. Gmail will check the settings you entered. Now all emails you send with Gmail will appear as if they came from email from GoDaddy.
Add POP3 email account
Once you’re done, go back to the settings page and click on “Accounts & Import.” Scroll down until you find the section called “Check email using POP3”. Click “Add a POP3 email account” and enter your GoDaddy email address and click “Next step.” You will have to enter your email address and password on the next page. Now you can add your server and POP port. Your POP server information is very easy to find. Simply click on “Email client settings”, open the drop-down menu and select port 110. Do not check the box “Leave a copy of retrieved message” or “Always use a secure connection (SSL)”.
Confirm email link
Your Gmail account will send a confirmation email to your GoDaddy email address. Just click on the link accompanying the email to complete the process. It might be a good idea to send a test email to the GoDaddy address to verify that all settings are correct. Write a message to your Gmail and click the “From” button button to choose your GoDaddy email address. If the email fails to send then one or more settings are incorrect and you will have to go back and make a correction.
