How to insert images in MS Access – Guide
Have you ever tried to insert images into your Access database? If not, then do it, because it might make your database more attractive and informative. This tutorial was written with the aim of providing useful information about how to insert images into your Access database. So here it goes…!
Yes, it is possible to insert images into Access databases. This task is possible using attachments that store several of your different file types in a single field. In previous versions of Access, the Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) technique was used. It stores documents and images, but by default OLE creates a bitmap for each inserted document and image.
These bitmaps are quite large, about 10 times larger than the original file. Therefore, when the user wants to preview their image or document pasted into the database, OLE only displays the bitmap image. OLE only displays the bitmap image and hides the original. On the other hand, MS Access attachments help to store attached images or files in their original formats. Therefore, to view images or files inserted via MS Access attachments, you don’t need to install any additional software.
