How to Install Garuda Linux on PC – Guide

Garuda Linux is a continuous distribution based on the powerful Arch Linux OS. Unlike Arch Linux OS, Garuda Linux OS has a graphical installer for easy installation and other modern graphical tools for system management. Garuda Linux OS is a very performance-oriented distribution with many performance-enhancing tweaks.

Among the various tweaks offered by this operating system is the use of zram, a powerful CPU governor, in conjunction with custom memory management software. The Garuda Linux operating system made use of the Timeshift backup utility for system stability. Follow the steps below to learn how to install Garuda Linux on the PC.

How to Install Garuda Linux on PC

  • Create Disk Partition to Install Garuda Linux
  • First, go to your Windows desktop
  • Then you will see the icon of “My Computer“
  • Right click on this icon and click on the Manage option
  • Then on the left side you have to click on the Manage Disk option
  • You will have disk partitions on your computer
  • Right-click the drive you want to create a partition from and select Shrink Volume.
  • Enter the amount of partition size in MB. (1GB = 1024MB)
  • Click Shrink.
  • Leave the drive unallocated
  • Download Garuda Linux ISO file
  • First, open any browser on your computer
  • Then search for Garuda Linux
  • Then open the first website
  • Then you will see many versions of Garuda Linux
  • Go there and choose your desktop environment from KDE, GNOME, Xfce, Cinnamon, MATE, LXQt-kwin, Wayfair, Qtile, BSPWM and i3wm.
  • After selecting your desktop environment, download it.
  • Download the Rufus software
  • To install Garuda Linux, you must have the Software to create a Garuda Linux bootable drive
  • First, open any browser
  • Then search Download Rufus Software
  • open the first website
  • Then you can download Rufus.
  • Create Bootable USB from Rufus
  • First of all, insert your Pendrive into the computer, which makes the Pendrive bootable.
  • Install the Rufus software on your computer.
  • Then double click on the Rufus software and run it.
  • Then you will find some interface of this type.
  • In this, your Pendrive is selected automatically.
  • Then click on the selection option in front of the startup selection.
  • Download the file of any Windows you want to install on your computer in advance.
  • After clicking on the select option, select the iso file you want to install.
  • Then select “MBR” in the partition scheme
  • And click on start button in the last.
  • Disable the secure boot option
  • (To install any operating system other than Windows, you need to disable the Secure Boot option.)
  • First, turn off your computer.
  • Then turn on the computer and press the F2 or F12 key several times to open the BIOS mode.
  • Then go to the security option where you will get the secure boot option.
  • If the secure boot option is enabled, you must disable it.
  • At last save and exit
  • Install Garuda Linux Dual Boot with Windows
  • First, plug a bootable USB drive into your computer and turn it on.
  • Then press the F8, F10, F12, ESC keys several times to open the bootloader.
  • And then select your USB drive to boot from it.
  • Select Boot: Garuda. X86_64 kde.
  • Then, after booting, you will see the Garuda Linux welcome page.
  • Select your language, location and keyboard.
  • After that, the window will open in front of you, in which you will have to select a partition for installing Garuda.
  • Create your name, password and Next.
  • Then click Install Now.
  • It will take several minutes to install as per system performance.
  • Upon completion Restart your PC.
  • Then Garuda Linux is successfully installed.
