This tutorial guides students and new users through the basics of setting up a PC to activate up automatically at a certain time in Windows 11. When you put a Windows computer to sleep, or if it goes into contemporary standby or hibernation, it usually waits until you touch a button before waking up up. A Windows PC can also be configured to activate up when there is network activity, although not all PCs enable Wake on LAN.

How to schedule your Windows 11 PC to wake up Up automatically

Steps to follow to wake up up PC automatically using Task Scheduler

  • Open the Run window by holding the Windows+r keys.
  • Type taskschd.msc and press Enter.
  • In the Task Scheduler window, under Actions on the right side, click Create Task
  • In the Create Task window that opens, on the General Tab, give the Task a Name
  • Check the Run option whether the user is logged in or not
  • Check the option Run with higher privileges
  • From the Configure for drop-down list, choose Windows 10/11.
  • Click on the Trigger tab
  • Click on New button in the lower left corner.
  • A new trigger window shows up.
  • From the Start Task drop-down list, choose On a schedule.
  • Check the Diary option.
  • In the Start section, choose an appropriate date.
  • Choose a time.
  • Click OK.
  • Click the Action tab.
  • A new action window will appear up.
  • From the Action drop-down list, choose Start a program.
  • In Program/script, enter the path of the program of your choice. For demo purposes we use cmd.exe
  • In Add arguments, passing /c “exit” will automatically close the open window. This is optional.
  • click on ok button.
  • Click on the Conditions tab
  • In the Power section, uncheck Start task only if computer is on AC power.
  • Check Wake the computer to perform this task.
  • click on ok button.
  • In order for the above scheduled task to run, the power plan settings must be configured so that wake timers are allowed.
  • Open the Run dialog using Windows + R.
  • Type the command control.exe powercfg.cpl,,3 and press OK as shown below
  • In the Power Options window, scroll down and find the Suspend option.
  • Double-click the Sleep option.
  • Under Sleep, double-click Allow alarm clocks.
  • Choose On for On Battery and Connected.
  • Click Apply and then click OK.
