How to Permanently Remove Chrome Extensions – Guide
This guide will explain how to remove Google Chrome extensions that indicate they were installed by your administrator. When a Chrome extension claims it was installed by an administrator or corporate group policies, Chrome doesn’t allow you to remove the extension as you normally would. This is because it assumes that your machine’s administrator has purposely set up Windows group policies that install a specific extension in the user’s organization. Unfortunately, malware programs also use this method to force extensions to be installed on a computer, knowing it will be difficult to remove them.
If a Chrome extension is forcibly installed by group policies, when a user tries to right-click the extension to remove it, the Remove Normal option will not be available and the Chrome user will see instead a dimmed message indicating “Installed by your administrator” as indicated by the red arrow below. Also, when an extension is forcibly installed, it displays the Installed by its Administrator icon to indicate that it was installed through Group Policies.
