How to turn off telemetry on Windows 11 PC – Guide

With information breaches and malware infections on the rise, taking your information seriously is more critical today than ever before. Not enough protection set up, you’re spilling information about yourself into every website you visit and into every application you present – even to Microsoft itself, because of Windows 11’s telemetry system.

As a component of its efforts to help troubleshoot Windows 11 user experience issues, Microsoft records information about applications and features you use, your system data, your system settings, and that’s just the beginning. Assuming you are stressed about sharing this information, you can disable Windows 11 telemetry by following these means.

Methods to disable telemetry and data collection on Windows PC

Set diagnostic and usage data as basic:

  • Using this option, you can limit user data collection on Windows 11; does not disable telemetry and data collection.
  • Click Start button and click on the Settings icon. In the Settings window, click Privacy.
  • In the next window, click the Diagnosis and Feedback tab in the left pane and set Diagnosis and Usage Data to Basic.
  • This will limit the data sent to Windows and thus decrease the data of users being hacked.
  • On the same Privacy tab, you will see more options to disable telemetry in Windows 11 to stop data collection.
  • Now go to Activity History and disable the options shown here. Uncheck the boxes to – Store my activity history on this device and Send my activity history to Microsoft.
  • Now go to Writing and Typing Personalization, here turn off the toggle button for typing suggestions.
  • Likewise, go to Speech and disable the selector switch to not provide any voice samples to Microsoft from time to time.
  • Now, on the General tab, disable all options that collect user data and send it to Microsoft.

    • Disable telemetry and data collection in Windows 11 using Registry Editor:

  • If you do not wish to provide any information to Microsoft, you can use the steps below to Disable telemetry and data collection.
  • Type Regedit into the Windows 11 search box and press Enter. Alternatively, press Windows key + R to run the command, type regedit and click OK.
  • Navigate to the following trees on the side panel,

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Policies Microsoft Windows DataCollection.

  • In the right pane, right click on the space and go to New, select the DWORD (32 bit) value. Name it AllowTelemetry.
  • Double-click AllowTelemetry and set the value to 0 and click OK.

    • Disable connected user experience and telemetry service:

  • After disabling data collection and telemetry using Registry Editor, you need to turn OFF the “Login User Experience” and “dmwappushsvc” services.
  • This is necessary to fully disable telemetry on your Windows 11 computer. To do this, follow the steps below:
  • Press Windows + R keys to open the Run command window. In the Run command window, type services.msc and click the OK button button.
  • In the Services window, scroll down and double-click Connected User Experiences and Telemetry.
  • On the next screen, disable Connected User Experiences and Telemetry by setting Startup Type to Disabled. Now click Apply to make your changes.
  • Now find another service called dmwappushsvc service in the Services window and double-click it. Here, disable the dmwappushsvc service by setting the startup type to Disable and click Apply.

    • Using Group Policy

  • Open Group Policy with the run command. Press Windows key + R to open Run Command and type gpedit.msc. Click OK or press Enter.
  • This opens a new window called Local Group Policy Editor. Here you need to look –
  • Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data collection and preview builds.
  • Double click on Data Collection and Preview Builds, and you will see options in the right panel. Now double click on Allow telemetry.
  • In the Allow Telemetry section, click the Disabled option. To apply the applied changes, click Apply.

    • Using Task Scheduler

  • Open the Start menu and type Task Scheduler in the search bar. Click on the option to appear on the Menu.
  • In this tab, go to
  • Task Scheduler Library> Microsoft> Windows> Customer Experience Improvement Program.
  • Right-click on the task called Consolidator and deactivate it. Repeat the process with all other tasks mentioned in this section.
