Dell P3223DE review 2023: great 60Hz monitor

Dell P3223DE review

In a world of high refresh rates, great pixel counts, and HDR features that are hard to understand, the new Dell P2723DE keeps things simple. This 27-inch monitor is all about getting things done as comfortably as possible while still getting them done. It has a 1440p screen instead of a 4K one, runs at only 60Hz, and makes no claims about HDR thrills.

Instead, it has IPS panel technology for good viewing angles and a lot of connections, such as USB-C with power delivery, ethernet passthrough. A USB 3.2 hub, and support for DisplayPort daisy chaining. Dell’s claims about this panel’s visual performance are pretty low-key. There is no local dimming, and the brightness, contrast, and response times are not very good. Dell doesn’t even bother to say how much DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB are covered.

Dell P3223DE review: Design and features

Dell P3223DE Review

The Dell P3223QE and its higher-end twin don’t look that different from each other, so the best way to tell them apart is to look at the screen’s resolution. The matte black and silver colour scheme of the monitor makes it look elegant and classic, so it wouldn’t look out of place in a studio or a high-end office. The display isn’t completely bezel-free, but the top and side edges have thinner borders that are less noticeable when using the screen.

It’s a big monitor, so you might want to think about how much space you have on your desk before you buy it. It’s 28 inches wide, so it can cover big speakers on a narrow table, and it weighs 25.79 pounds, which is a lot. Dell made its products smaller and thinner for environmental reasons, so they are now thinner and lighter than their predecessors. You can get this monitor from its official website.

Dell P3223DE review: Image quality

The Dell P2723DE isn’t very punchy for a 350 nit SDR monitor. But it comes from the factory with accurate colours, a neutral colour temperature, and no major problems with image quality. Gradients look nice and smooth, and test scales don’t show any signs of compression. The IPS panel has good viewing angles, but the contrast isn’t great and you can see a bit of that typical IPS glow from the side.

Dell P3223DE review: Display and Performance

Dell P3223DE Review

The Dell P3223DE has a 31.5-inch QHD IPS panel with a normal response time of 8ms and a refresh rate of 60Hz (5ms fast). When I first set up the monitor, we thought the colours were off. So we got out my Datacolor SpyderX Elite calibration tool and calibrated it. Everything looked much better after the calibration.

At first, the whites were a little off and the colours looked a little dull. Even so, business users may want the calibration right out of the box. The Dell P3223DE monitor shows colours in a natural way, with no oversaturation or strange HDR effects.

It does show 99% of the sRGB colour space. Even though the blacks are not completely black, they are good enough for light photo and video editing. The whites look great, and the text is sharp and easy to read.

Dell P3223DE review: Price and availability

The Dell P2723DE is very expensive for a 1440p 27-inch monitor, costing $495 in the US and £396 in the UK. Even though the price is high, the full-featured USB-C hub with ethernet and DisplayPort daisy chaining helps to make up for it. Compared to similar 4K monitors, like Dell’s own S2722QC, which offers full 4K and USB-C functionality, but not ethernet or daisy chaining, for less money, the price is hard to explain.

Final Words

The Dell P3223DE is a good computer for the office. The 32-inch screen makes it easy to open two windows next to each other, and the 1440p resolution makes it easy to read text. It has great ergonomics that make it easy to adjust the screen the way you want, and it has wide viewing angles so you can share the screen with someone next to you and they’ll still see a clear image.

Should I turn off blue light on my monitor?

Limit the amount of artificial light you get during the day and evening, especially blue light. One of the main sources of high-energy blue visible light is blue light from computers, so turning off the blue light on your computer is a good first step.

What color is best for eyes on screen?

Most people agree that white, black, and the colours yellow, green, and orange are generally the best choices. These colours (yellow, green, and orange) are in the middle of the visible spectrum (the range of colours our eyes can see) and are the easiest to see.

Do Dell monitors have blue light filters?

Windows 10 Night Light is a blue light filter that changes the colours on your screen at night to warmer ones to help you sleep better and reduce eye strain.
