DJI Mini 2 SE review

The Mini 2 SE, which can be purchased for a total of $339 with the remote, is DJI’s first drone in quite some time that is truly aimed at consumers on a tight budget. This foldable quadcopter can record high-resolution video in 2.7K at up to 30 frames per second, has a flight time of approximately 30 minutes, and can be charged through USB-C on the drone as well as the remote control.

Even though it does not incorporate obstacle detection sensors and it does not have all of the most recent capabilities that its higher-end siblings have, it is still a fantastic deal in light of competitors in this price bracket that have disappointed customers, such as the $239.99 Holy Stone HS360. Therefore, the Mini 2 SE is deserving of our choice for affordable drones, which is an honor that we previously bestowed upon the Mini 2, which has since been discontinued.

DJI Mini 2 SE: Design

DJI Mini 2 SE review

The DJI Mini 2 SE is almost the same size and shape as both the Mini SE and the Mini 2. At 246g, which includes the battery, blades, and a microSD card, it is a little heavier than those two. The DJI Mini 2 SE is light enough that you don’t need a Flyer ID to fly it in the UK. However, you still need an Operator ID. When folded out, all three versions are the same size (L245 x W289 x H56 mm).

The DJI Mini 2 SE can fit in your palm when folded (the folded measurements are L138W81H58 mm). It fits in mine. The battery size and volume of the DJI Mini 2 SE are the same as those (2,250 mAh and 82.5g). The body is made of hard plastic to protect the insides of the drone from bumps, but it is not too heavy so as not to slow it down. I don’t know why all drones have to be light gray. DJI Mini 2 SE: Camera

Even though the DJI Mini 2 SE is cheaper than the Mini 2, it has many of the same Quickshot modes as the Mini 2. These include Helix, in which the drone rises around an object in a spiral, Circle, in which the drone moves in a spiral at a set altitude, and Boomerang, in which the Mini 2 SE rises and then falls along an oblong route. You can also use the plane to take Sphere, Wide Angle, and 180° views.

The Mini 2 SE and the Mini 2 both use the same 12 MP 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor, but the Mini 2 can shoot movies in 4K while the Mini 2 Se can only do so in 2.7K at 30 fps. Unfortunately, the DJI Mini 2 SE doesn’t have a True Vertical Shooting mode like the DJI Mini 3 Pro. If you want to post movies on Instagram or TikTok, you’ll have to crop them.

Final Words

DJI Mini 2 SE review

The DJI Mini 2 SE is an excellent entry-level aerial camera. Quickshots video styles, Auto Takeoff and Landing, several methods to return home, and more are just a few of the features that make it user-friendly. In addition to being able to shoot images in RAW format and fly the drone in slow, normal, and fast modes, it can help you advance to more professional drones.

The DJI Mini 2 SE has a few minor flaws, such as a lower maximum video resolution and the absence of True Vertical Shooting, but for the price, it’s hard to complain. More value is provided than expected.
