How to Run Zorin OS on Computer From USB – Guide

If you’re trying to use Linux for the first time, or if your previous attempt didn’t work, Zorin OS is one of the best distros to try. Zorin OS serves to show the happy face of Linux to new customers and may be the only distribution that will inspire you to become a Linux person. In addition to the interface, the set up means of Zorin OS can be user friendly. You don’t need to know any code and there are no hard problems. In this article, we take a look at Zorin OS and walk you through the set up process.

The installation process

If you have already launched Zorin OS Live environment from previous version tutorial, you will see an installation icon on the desktop. In that case do the following.

Double-click the “Install Zorin OS” icon.

If you did not choose to boot into the Live environment, but just boot from USB, you will see the following screen. In that case do the following:

Select “Install Zorin OS”.

To receive

The “Welcome” screen will be presented to you.

Select your preferred language and click Continue.

Keyboard layout selection

The “Keyboard Layout” screen will be presented to you.

Select your keyboard layout. Most of the time the installer already recognizes the correct keyboard and layout. Click Continue.

Updates and other software

The “Updates and Other Software” screen will be presented to you. On this screen, you can select whether to download updates while installing Zorin OS. I usually choose to do this. You can then choose whether to install third-party software for graphics, Wi-Fi hardware, and additional media formats such as MP3 support, which is not installed right away. The third option is whether or not to participate in the census, where you decide whether you want the Zorin team to help count the number of users in your distribution. This is a depersonalized count.

Make your preferred selections and click Continue.

The “Installation Type” screen will be presented to you. In this situation, the computer on which we install Zorin OS is empty and does not have another operating system. Select “Erase disk and install Zorin OS” and click Install Now.

Now you will see the following pop-up. This confirmation screen explains what will happen.

Where are you?

A screen with a world map will be presented to you.

Select your region or hometown by typing the name or clicking on the map. In my case found the nearest capital. Click Continue.

Who are you?

The next screen will ask for some personal data and credentials.

Type your name

If you want to change the proposed computer name

Enter the username you want to use.

Enter and confirm your password.

You have the option to log in automatically. I’m a security advocate, so I want to advise you to opt for a password-based login instead of automatic login.

Select Require my password to log in.

For this tutorial we have not chosen to use Active Directory.

Click Continue.
