Likewise, if the speed is slow, viewers may lose interest in the message and may exit the page or close the file completely.
Import to Kapwing
If you found your GIF on a site like GIPHY or on a social media platform, go ahead and get the link. If you already have the GIF saved locally on your computer, you can load it directly into Kapwing! Go to Studio and paste your link or upload the GIF. The studio will open up with a screen the size of your GIF. If you want to change the screen or gif size, do so now by clicking a different screen aspect ratio on the right or scaling the GIF up and down using the corners.
Speed up (or slow down)
Once your GIF is in Kapwing, click on it to bring up up the right panel of editing tools. You will find a box labeled “Speed” already set to “1X,” you can click the (+) button right to accelerate up the GIF and the (-) button left to slow down. You can fully decelerate to 4 times the original speed (0.25x) or speed it up up 4 times too (4x).
Make edits and export
As you can see from the cover photo, I decided to make a few more edits to this GIF. I resized the canvas to have a horizontal aspect ratio of 9:16, added a second GIF, added an arrow and even some text! You can also add audio, subtitles and make other super easy edits using the studio. If you want to export as GIF, click on “Settings” button in the upper right corner and make sure you are ready to export as a GIF. When finished creating, click on the big red “Publish” icon button in the upper right corner, and voila! Kapwing will do the rest.
