In 2018, YouTube introduced picture-in-picture mode on Android. Three years later, the feature finally found its way to iOS. It allows iPhone and iPad users to continue watching a video on the miniplayer outside the YouTube app. Unfortunately, the launch was not extensive and was only available to select YouTube Premium subscribers. But now, more iOS users are finally getting access to this long-awaited feature.
It’s as simple as that. After activating the feature, you can try it on the YouTube app. After opening the YouTube app, start playing any video. if you slide up or press the home button while a video is playing, it should shrink down to the miniplayer, allowing you to continue using your phone while the video is playing. Google notes that when you lock the screen, the video automatically pauses, but you can resume the video using the lock screen’s media controls.
YouTube is also testing a translation of comments feature which allows YouTube comments to be translated into different languages with the click of a button. Again, you will have to pay Premium to use these features. If you accept, you will see a “Translate” button in comments written in other languages. when you touch it button, the comment will be translated into your primary language. You can also go back using the “View original” option button.
