As smartphones keep getting better at making content, more and more accessories have come out to take advantage of their video and photo powers. We recently reviewed the ShiftCam SnapGrip, which makes the iPhone more like a traditional point-and-shoot camera. Now, Chinese company Hollyland wants to add another device to the mix.
The Hollyland Lark C1 is a set of wireless microphones that only work with smartphones. Since phones aren’t the best at recording high-quality sounds, there is definitely a need for something like the Lark C1 to give smartphone filming a more professional look.

Design and Build Quality

At first glance, the Hollyland Lark C1 might look like a pair of earbuds because it has a charging case that looks like an earbud case. However, if you look closer, you’ll see that the case is bigger than most earbud cases. When you open the case, you’ll find the RX receiver and two wireless lapel mics inside.
There are LED lights on the front of the case that show how much battery is left, and there are separate lights inside that show if either mic is charging or has a full battery. When the lid is open, it feels a little bit weak, but there’s a magnetic pull that keeps the case shut, and when you close it, it clicks. You can buy this from its official website
Hollyland Lark C1: Audio quality
Since the Lark C1 is much cheaper than the DJI Mic 2, we thought that might mean it didn’t sound as good. But after a lot of testing, we found that the Hollyland Lark C1 sounds just as good as the DJI Mic 2, which is sure to please most buyers.
I’ve been using the Lark C1 to record the audio for my own TikTok and YouTube videos. When we haven’t had to deal with any outside noise or distractions, the Lark C1 mics have picked up my voice clearly and without any hiccups. They have been able to make a big difference in the sound quality of my movies.
Hollyland Lark C1: Performance

The charging case for the Lark C1 is a great way to keep the receiver and transmitter charged when not in use, like when you are shooting an interview. The size of the charging case, 83x60x30 mm, makes it easy to store and carry. It is also small and light, so you can take it with you wherever you go. The charging case also lets you keep all of the parts of the wireless microphone set in one place.
Also, as the name suggests, the charging case is made to keep the parts charged, so you won’t have to worry about running out of power while you’re out recording. Overall, the Lark C1’s charging case is a great way to keep the wireless devices with built-in mics and the receiver charged and in one place, making them easy to find when not in use.
Battery Life and Charging
There is an internal battery in the Lark C1 TX units that provides power for up to 8 hours, with 140 mAh (0.518 Wh). It takes roughly 1.5 hours to fully charge the TX units. The charging case requires a full charge of roughly 1.5 hours.
Both the TX and RX can be utilized even while charging. The RX can be connected to a power source to allow for simultaneous phone charging.
Final Words
Hollyland’s Lark C1 wireless mics have great sound quality and are small and easy to carry. The charging case looks great, and the wireless mics are small but easy to see when they are connected.
The battery life is great, and you can keep the mics charged by putting them in the charging case. The partner app is helpful for changing the input volume and noise cancellation, but it doesn’t let you record in the app or change the volume of each mic input.
