How to Copy Text Between Windows PC and Android Smartphone using Alt-C App – Guide

People in this technological age often use various gadgets such as a computer (desktop PC), tablet and smartphone. It would be hard to find an Android smartphone or tablet user who doesn’t use a Windows PC regularly (unless they’re a Linux enthusiast and Mac users typically avoid Android phones). Using a single-purpose productivity program called Alt-C, you can copy text from your Android phone to your Windows PC and vice versa. How to Enable Cloud Clipboard in Windows 11

Cloud Clipboard is a sync feature available on Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) and Windows 11. This feature allows users to sync the contents of the Windows clipboard so they can share (paste) it with other devices.

Click on the search tool button (the magnifying glass icon) on the taskbar.

Type clipboard in the search box to search for clipboard settings.

Click Clipboard Settings in the search results to open the options shown directly below.

Enable the clipboard history option if it is disabled.

Press the Start button button to Share option between devices.

Select a Microsoft account email address to send a verification identity code.

Then check your email for a verification code. Enter this code in the text box and click the Verify button button.

Select the Automatically sync text I copy option.

How to Enable Clipboard Sync with SwiftKey on Android

When you enable Cloud Clipboard on Windows, you will need to do the same on your Android mobile device. To do this, add the Microsoft SwiftKey Android app to your phone or tablet. Turn on your Android mobile device.

Open the Google Play app.

Type SwiftKey in the Google Play search box to find this app.

Tap Microsoft SwiftKey to open its download page.

Then select the Install option for the SwiftKey app.

Open the SwiftKey app on your mobile device.

Then you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account when you first launch the app.

Tap on the Rich Input option in SwiftKey.

Select the Clipboard option to open the settings directly below.

Enable the sync clipboard history setting there.

After that, you will be asked to sign in to your Microsoft account once more for verification purposes. Select the OK option to verify the account.

Also, make sure the Remember Copied Items option is enabled.

While not essential, it’s worth turning on the Show last item copied as fast as pasting option in the preview bar setting as well. If this option is not selected, you can only paste the item most recently copied from another device.

The cloud sync feature only works with the default SwiftKey keyboard. So make sure you have that keyboard enabled. You can check your device’s keyboard settings by selecting Language & Input > Default Keyboard in the Android Settings apps. Microsoft’s SwiftKey should be the default keyboard selected there.

How to Copy and paste text between your PC and Mobile Device

Open the search utility in Windows 11 and type Notepad in its text box.

Click Notepad in the search result to open that desktop application window.

Type some sample text into Notepad.

Select the sample text with the cursor and press the shortcut key Ctrl + C. Alternatively, you can select the Copy option from the Edit menu in Notepad.

Now turn on Android mobile device to which you added SwiftKey.

Launch the Google Chrome browser app on the Android device.

Open the Google search engine in the browser.

Tap the Google search box to bring up up the SwiftKey keyboard.

Then tap the clipboard icon at the top of the keyboard.

You should see a Copied from another device box that includes the sample text copied as in the screenshot below.

Tap this box to paste the sample text into the Google search engine.
