Every few months, someone brings up the electrical use of video game lights. More people “agree” with this observation in the next round. Oh, makes sense. No one should be surprised by this, as displaying information on a screen requires energy. Caveat, however, there is something unsettling about this notion. It’s a little strange how the virtual and physical worlds can coexist perfectly. As I’m not familiar with the technical terms for this phenomenon, I’ll just refer to it as “Cola”, which is an acronym for “gaming lamp that uses real electricity”. (I’m relieved that I avoided visiting “Ludolc’s Consonance” or something.)
Battlefield 2042 sees its second common glue phenomenon in season two. Concussion grenades are another cause. Like other concussion grenades, it simulates a bright flash brightening the screen. main of Glure feature is that the white screen illuminates the player’s eyes, making the virtual flashbang appear dimmer than the real flashbang. Its brightness is measured in megacandelas. Assault tactical weapons are more powerful than most.
A white screen can be annoying if you play in a dark room. Light sensitivity (sometimes called “photophobia”) varies from person to person. Bright light can also trigger migraines. DICE has added a setting to the Battlefield 2042 accessibility menu that allows you to turn the white glow of Concussion Grenades into a black field. It’s basically Flashbang Dark Mode. The clip below shows the settings in action.
I love that. While it’s hard to avoid the “bright lights of video games” entirely, I don’t think video games should be overly in sync with reality.
Glue may seem harmless for now, but it doesn’t last long. When we were pressing F to say hello to everyone, we were teasing, ‘Press F to say hello.’ But now people ironically press F out of respect. So it’s highly likely that he won’t return to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare either. I feel like I’m pressing F to pay my respects. That’s kind of funny. All the military commanders start cheering when one day they win an interplanetary war at the expense of a fleet of video game ships. It was all true. It’s not so funny anymore.
Minor aspects of Battlefield 2042 Season 2 are concussions and grenade launches. It’s hard to focus on these details, so DICE provided the demo video I requested. (Sorry, I didn’t have time to unlock grenades this week. In addition to grenade types and other items, the season will include new maps, specialists, weapons, and more. Learn more here, I wrote to
